Enso is now FREE!!!

A relatively new software company called Humanized has developed this great time saving software that does not get in the way of your way.

“Having to change programs to perform simple tasks—for example, making a quick calculation, or looking up a definition—breaks your concentration, takes you away from the task at hand, and wastes your valuable time. Enso lets you do common computing tasks easier and faster than ever before. You get a huge productivity boost and a simpler digital life. And now that Enso is free, it won’t cost you a penny.” - Humanized.com

My favorite online flash games

I have found that online flash games are extremely popular. This is probably because you (usually) don’t have to wait a long time to download it and they are free. Unfortunately because they are free they usually aren’t good/playable and they aren’t updated often/ever. But there are some that stand out. I am here to tell you in no particular order what those games are.

1. Dwarfs Complete

This addicting puzzle game is very nice for several reasons. It automatically saves your progress (using cookies i guess). It’s not too hard but there is a level of mind power that is required to solve the various puzzles. The site is in Japanese but just ignore it and play the game. The game itself is about a dwarf who I think is trying to get off of either an abandoned planet or the moon. To complete the game you need to find 40 pieces of equipment create a floating rock and activate the spaceship to get off the moon/planet. You control your character with the arrow keys and you can use various tools you make from materials by clicking on them. I really liked this game and I recommend it to people who like puzzle games.

Myminicity.com

I was surfing the interweb when I found this cool little site. You make your own mini city and you gain population from people visiting your city. for example if you go to my city http://zagaroth.myminicity.com I will get another population. My favorite thing about this site is the graphics. Just look at my city as of December 29, 2007.

city

It is a very nice looking game especially when you get even bigger. So come on and help me out. :)

In addition to increasing population you can

  • Increase industry
  • Improve the transport network
  • Increase security
  • Improve environment
  • and Increase business

Send people to the links for those things once you have enough population to do so. Right now I don’t have enough population but when I do I will post those links.

Please help me out and go to my mini city.

If you want you can post a link to your mini city in the comments and we can help everybody’s city grow.

UPDATE:
Thank you everybody who visited my site I can now increase industry :).

Go to http://zagaroth.myminicity.com/ind and remember you can post your mini city here too.

UPDATE AGAIN:
Now I can increase transportation!

Alltel and Mac vs. PC commercial fun

Well with the holidays come holiday themed commercials and I just want to share something I noticed.

The Alltel and the Mac vs. PC commercials are fundamentally the same thing. A “suave” young hip guy and a geek or four. Here is an example of both of their TV commercials.

Alltel

Mac vs. PC

These are their regular commercials and here are their holiday commercials:

Alltel

Mac vs. PC

Notice anything? I sure did. Both went from actual people to claymation. I have a couple of ideas why.

  1. Both companies realized that people like claymation at the same time.
  2. It’s less expensive to have a clay Santa then it is to hire one and buy a set.
  3. They both use the same company to produce their ads.
  4. They are the same company.
  5. All their base are belong to geeks.
  6. An advanced race of clay dreidels are trying to take over media and give Santa a bad name therefore making Hanukkah superior to Christmas.
  7. Coincidence.

And now for something completely different:

Funny Video

Here’s a funny little video to waste your time.

Nice Entrance

I was surfing the interwebs when I found this. First of all it’s a giant pickachu. Second of all the entrance is in its crotch…

I wonder if it’s a girl…

World’s Fastest Broadband

I know it’s been around on the internet for quite a bit now, but it still never seizes to amaze me.

A 75 year old woman from Karlstad in central Sweden has been thrust into the IT history books - with the world’s fastest internet connection.Sigbritt Löthberg’s home has been supplied with a blistering 40 Gigabits per second connection, many thousands of times faster than the average residential link and the first time ever that a home user has experienced such a high speed.

But Sigbritt, who had never had a computer until now, is no ordinary 75 year old. She is the mother of Swedish internet legend Peter Löthberg who, along with Karlstad Stadsnät, the local council’s network arm, has arranged the connection.

“This is more than just a demonstration,” said network boss Hafsteinn Jonsson.

“As a network owner we’re trying to persuade internet operators to invest in faster connections. And Peter Löthberg wanted to show how you can build a low price, high capacity line over long distances,” he told The Local.

Sigbritt will now be able to enjoy 1,500 high definition HDTV channels simultaneously. Or, if there is nothing worth watching there, she will be able to download a full high definition DVD in just two seconds.

The secret behind Sigbritt’s ultra-fast connection is a new modulation technique which allows data to be transferred directly between two routers up to 2,000 kilometres apart, with no intermediary transponders.

According to Karlstad Stadsnät the distance is, in theory, unlimited - there is no data loss as long as the fibre is in place.

“I want to show that there are other methods than the old fashioned ways such as copper wires and radio, which lack the possibilities that fibre has,” said Peter Löthberg, who now works at Cisco.

Cisco contributed to the project but the point, said Hafsteinn Jonsson, is that fibre technology makes such high speed connections technically and commercially viable.

“The most difficult part of the whole project was installing Windows on Sigbritt’s PC,” said Jonsson.
